形態特徵

• Perennial with short rhizome; culms densely tufted, 10-40 cm by 0.5-0.8 mm, compressed, trigonous, smooth, spinulose-scabrid above.
• Leaves basal, many; blades linear, to 30 cm by 0.5-1.2 mm, obtuse, flattish with more or less incurved margins, glabrous; sheaths 1-3 cm long, yellow-brownish, eventually disintegrating into fibers; ligule absent. Inflorescence a single, terminal spikelet, more rarely 1-2 peduncled lateral spikelets added; involucre bracts 2 -3, scale-like, or lowest bract with setaceous extension of midvein ca. 1 cm long.
• Spikelet ovate, 8-15 mm by 4-7 mm, acute, strongly compressed, glaucous yellow or yellowish green.
• Glumes 8-20 per spikelet, distichous, lower ones 2-ranked, upper ones often appearing subspiral by rachilla torsion, ovate or broadly ovate, 3-6 mm by 2-4 mm, acute, chartaceous, yellowish, weakly shiny; keel prominent, 3-nerved. Stamens 2-3; anthers 1.5-3 mm long. Style triquetrous, hyaline-fimbriate almost to base, dilated at base; stigmas 3. Achenes broadly obovate, 2-3 mm by 1.2-2 mm, trigonous, short-stipitate at base, white or cream, somewath bony, verruculose.

分布

• 台灣 : in open grasslands, grassy pacthes, roadsides, and tea plantation, coastal rock outcrops and open forests.
• 世界 : Pantropical regions.
